Sustainable Development Goals

By working in line with the UN’s 2030 Agenda, we play our part in contributing to the achievement of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Global Goals aim to eradicate extreme poverty, reduce inequalities and injustices in the world, promote peace and justice, and solve the climate crisis.
Four fantastic goals that we want to help achieve.

We have reviewed all 17 goals and identified the three goals that are priorities for Stockholmsmässan.

Sustainability –
a natural part
of our business

We have reviewed all 17 goals and identified the three goals that are priorities for Stockholmsmässan.

UN Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth

Our role as the engine of the Swedish tourism industry is clear and responsible. We will both strengthen the region’s profitability and be a safe, secure, stimulating and welcoming place for everyone.

Therefore, in this area we will promote, among other things:

  • Encourage skills, diversity and gender equality.
  • Be a business that will work to create productive employment with decent working conditions for everyone in the organization.
  • An inclusive and long-term sustainable economic growth in the region and to support Stockholm City to become an attractive destination.
  • We will be a stable business partner that offers new solutions and challenges customers and suppliers to act sustainably.
  • We provide training and information on risks and safety for both employees and contractors.
  • We also cooperate with organizations and provide internships and arrange study visits from schools and companies.
  • An attractive and welcoming workplace with CBA:s, a zero vision for injuries and serious incidents, a work environment policy, a focus on diversity and inclusion, and active and continuous systematic environmental work in all parts of the organization.

UN Goal 12: sustainable consumption and production

Fairs, meetings and congresses organized by us should make a big impression and leave a small footprint. By doing everything we can to reduce our climate impact and by educating, encouraging and responding to requests for positive initiatives, we strive for more sustainable consumption and production.

Specifically, among other things, we commit to:

  • Using eco-labelled electricity, cooling and gas from renewable sources.
  • Use eco-labeled paint in productions, for example when painting stand walls.
  • When we bring people together, we also promote awareness and knowledge about more sustainable consumption patterns, which in turn leads to transitions to more sustainable lifestyles.
  • Ensure that our own designers work from a sustainable perspective from the start when designing stands, cafes and activity areas, by reusing whenever possible.
  • By offering rental of exhibition materials, we help customers create climate-smarter stands with a circular mindset.
  • Conduct a dialog with our partner Mässrestauranger to reduce food waste at Stockholmsmässan. All restaurants and cafes at Stockholmsmässan are also KRAV labeled step 1.

UN Goal 17: Implementation and global partnership

Innovation is crucial to our continued existence and that of our customers. We need to further broaden our horizon beyond our core business and establish partnerships that extend beyond our own site. Through innovation, networks and other collaborations, we contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.

Therefore, we will, inter alia:

  • Be the platform to promote the dialogue on sustainable transition in different sectors.
  • Driving forward the work on sustainable events and collaborating with industry colleagues. For example, Stockholmsmässan is a member of ICCA, UFI and the Network for Sustainable Business.
  • Be a stable business partner that offers new solutions and challenges customers, suppliers and partners to act more sustainably. Promote sustainable development through new partnerships and cooperation.
  • Continue to lead by example. For example, Stockholmsmässan is the first venue in Stockholm to be certified according to ISO 20121, an international standard for event sustainability.
