World Tunnel Congress<\/h1>\n

The World Tunnel Congress (WTC) is an annual international congress and exhibition that brings together leading professionals in tunnelling and underground construction. For the first time, Sweden hosted the event, organized by the Swedish Society of Mining Engineering with the support of the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA). More than 3,000 experts participated in this world-leading congress for tunneling and other forms of underground work.<\/p>\n

The theme of the World Tunnel Congress 2025 was “Tunnelling into a Sustainable Future”<\/em>, focusing on how underground solutions can contribute to sustainable cities and infrastructures. Sweden is highlighted as a pioneer in technological innovation – from historical pioneers such as Alfred Nobel to today’s world-leading companies and projects in electrification, autonomous systems and climate-smart solutions. <\/p>\n

The congress featured nearly 600 presentations, technical study visits to sites such as the Stockholm Bypass and the New Metro, and a Think Tank in Hall A for networking and discussions.<\/p>\n
