Extensive work was carried out, including dialogues with stakeholders.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Given the current market conditions \u2014 characterized by declining profitability across the industry \u2014 no potential buyer was identified who could ensure the long-term development considered necessary for the business. As a result, no acceptable offer was received, and the City of Stockholm decided to terminate the sales process, retain ownership of Stockholmsm\u00e4ssan, and focus on developing the company to strengthen its role as a key player in enhancing the region\u2019s attractiveness as a destination for congresses and meetings.<\/p>\n<p>The need for transformation is driven by Stockholmsm\u00e4ssan\u2019s current financial situation. For several years, the company has experienced weak financial performance and reported significant deficits. The business has not recovered following the pandemic, which led to weakened market growth\u2014particularly affecting consumer-oriented fairs and events. To address this, an organizational restructuring is required, and a notice of redundancy affecting 60 employees was issued on September 30, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Achieving financial balance by 2026 will also require process optimization, changes in working methods, and a digital transformation that enables sustainable economic development of the business.<\/p>\n<p><em>Stockholmsm\u00e4ssan will continue to operate in its existing venue in \u00c4lvsj\u00f6 at least until 2035.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 2024-2025, the possibility of selling Stockholmsm\u00e4ssan to a commercial operator was examined.
