8,831 dogs on site for a historic dog show weekend

From 4–6 September, the dog world turns its attention to Stockholm as European Dog Show 2026 gets underway. With 8,831 dogs from around 60 countries and nearly 16,000 competition entries, Sweden is set to host its biggest dog show weekend in 18 years.

European Dog Show is one of Europe’s largest international dog shows and is hosted by a different European country each year. This year, the Swedish Kennel Club welcomes dog enthusiasts to Stockholm for three days of competitions, activities and opportunities to connect.

– Welcoming thousands of dogs, participants and visitors over a single weekend requires careful planning – from space and logistics to managing the flow of people throughout the venue. European Dog Show demonstrates the breadth of events we can accommodate and our ability to create the right conditions for events of this scale, says Mats Viker, CEO of Stockholmsmässan.

A meeting place for the international dog community
A total of 366 dog breeds are represented, from well-known favourites to breeds rarely seen in Sweden. Sweden’s twelve national dog breeds will also have a dedicated stand, where visitors can learn more about each of them.

There is plenty to discover beyond the show rings too. Exhibitors from several countries will be showcasing products and services for dogs and their owners, alongside organisations, specialist clubs and European kennel clubs.

Two major dog shows in one weekend
Swedish Winner Show 2026 takes place alongside European Dog Show, with dogs competing for the titles of Swedish Winner, Swedish Junior Winner and Swedish Veteran Winner 2026. The Swedish winner titles are normally awarded at Stockholm Hundmässa in December. This year, however, Stockholm Hundmässa is taking a break as the Swedish Kennel Club hosts European Dog Show instead.
