Stockholmsmässan at the forefront with upgraded digital infrastructure

Published 2024-04-24

During this year, Stockholmsmässan’s organizers, exhibitors, visitors and employees will have access to a new state-of-the-art WiFi system. With this system Stockholmsmässan will be able to fufill all future wireless data communication needs.

Over the years, Stockholmsmässan has received much praise for the facility’s digital infrastructure. Especially from congress organizers, who often have high demands on capacity, performance and reliability. The Fair’s existing WiFi system, thanks to a well thought-out network design, high quality components and proactive operation and management, has managed to remain top-notch until the end of its life cycle. Now it needs to be replaced to meet all future requirements and maintain a high level of safety. During 2024, Stockholmsmässan launches a state-of-the-art WiFi system with new technology, specifically adapted for demanding environments with many simultaneous users in limited spaces. The new system also helps to reduce Stockholmsmässan’s climate impact thanks to modern energy-saving features.

– We are the first in the country to implement this technology on a large scale. It has been made available from the technology supplier Cisco to meet the very high and special requirements of our type of premises and operations,” says Henrik Hedlund, Infrastructure Technician at Stockholmsmässan’s IT department.

The shift is ongoing throughout the year and will allow for a seamless and uninterrupted WiFi experience throughout the process. By December, the last components of the existing system will be retired. The new system is of course movable in the event that Stockholmsmässan would be relocated within its technical lifespan, which in that case is estimated to be in at least seven years.
